An Impervious Floor from Wall to Wall
That detail is what separates a floor that merely looks clean from one that can be cleaned down properly. Our team will advise on where coving and welding are worth specifying and where a simpler installation will serve you just as well. We also supply and install luxury vinyl tiles and carpets for customers across Preston.

Why Choose Banks Flooring Solutions
Vinyl looks straightforward until the details start to matter. Welded seams, coved perimeters, slip grades and subfloor preparation all change what a floor costs and how long it lasts, and none of them are visible in a brochure. Because we both supply and install, the person recommending a product is answerable for how it performs once it is down, which is a different conversation to buying from one company and hiring another to fit it.
Our showroom holds a wide range of free samples, and we would always suggest coming in with some idea of the colour and design you are after, simply because the range is large enough to be overwhelming otherwise. One of our team will help you narrow it down. Whether you need a full supply and install package or a second opinion on a specification, we are happy to help.
TRUSTED MANUFACTURERS

Every range we supply comes from a manufacturer with a proven record in commercial environments, with the technical data and warranties a specification requires.

Anti-Slip Grades Matched to the Space
Vinyl is available in a wide range of anti-slip grades, which means the same material can be specified very differently depending on what the floor has to cope with. A commercial kitchen where grease and water are present daily needs a considerably higher grade than a retail floor that occasionally sees wet weather tread in from outside. Getting that judgement right matters beyond comfort.
Slip resistance carries genuine liability in a working building, and specifying too low a grade to save money is a false economy that shows up the first time somebody goes over. Equally, over specifying makes a floor harder to clean than it needs to be. Our team will look at the space, what happens in it and how often it is cleaned, then recommend a grade that fits rather than defaulting to the same product everywhere.

WHERE IT WORKS
Vinyl Flooring Specified for Your Environment
A wet room and a retail floor need very different things from the same material. Select an environment to see how we would specify vinyl for it, from slip grade through to seam and perimeter detailing.

Wet rooms and shower areas
Wet rooms are the environment vinyl was made for. The floor has to stop water reaching the subfloor entirely, which means welded seams across the whole area and coving up the wall at the perimeter so there is no junction for liquid to find. Slip grade is specified at the top of the range here.

Vinyl flooring questions
Frequently Asked Questions.
Vinyl raises a different set of questions to carpet, particularly around slip resistance, cleaning and where it outperforms other systems. The questions we are asked most often are covered here. If your project raises something we have not addressed, get in touch and we will give you a straight answer.

Call 01772 436686Cost effectiveness is the usual starting point. Vinyl is competitively priced as a material and quick to install compared with most alternatives, which keeps the total figure down on large floor areas. But the reason it stays specified is durability combined with water resistance. A vinyl floor handles years of heavy commercial use, resists liquids entirely, and cleans down with a straightforward routine rather than a specialist regime. Add the breadth of colours, patterns and finishes available, and it covers most of what a commercial building needs from a floor without compromise in any one area.
Yes, and a large proportion of what we fit is in ordinary high traffic spaces rather than wet environments. Offices, retail floors and restaurants all benefit from a surface that takes constant footfall and cleans easily, and the water resistance is simply an additional advantage rather than the reason for choosing it. The specification changes accordingly. A floor in a dry office does not need the slip grade a commercial kitchen requires, so the product is matched to the actual conditions rather than treated as one universal solution.
Format is the main difference. Vinyl is generally supplied as sheet material and laid as a continuous surface, with seams welded to keep it impervious, which is what makes it the choice for wet rooms and kitchens. Luxury vinyl tiles are laid as individual planks or tiles, which gives more design flexibility and allows sections to be replaced, but introduces joints that sheet vinyl does not have. Where the priority is a fully sealed floor, sheet vinyl wins. Where appearance and replaceability matter more, luxury vinyl tiles are usually the better answer. We supply and install both, along with carpet tiles and commercial flooring across the full range.
It helps enormously. The range of vinyl available is genuinely large, covering colours, patterns and finishes across every grade, and arriving with no starting point can be overwhelming rather than useful. Having a rough idea of the colour direction and the look you are after lets one of our team narrow things down quickly to a manageable set of options. We hold a wide range of free samples, so you can take a few away and see them in the actual space under the lighting they will live with, which tells you far more than a showroom comparison.
Yes. We are a supply and install business, not a merchant selling material for somebody else to lay. That matters more with vinyl than with most floors, because the performance depends heavily on the installation. Seams that are not welded properly, coving that is poorly formed or a subfloor that has not been prepared correctly will all undermine an otherwise sound specification. Having the same company responsible for both means there is nobody to pass the problem to if something is not right.
Straightforward routine cleaning is one of the reasons vinyl gets specified in the first place. Because the surface is impervious and, where welded, has no joints for dirt to collect in, it cleans down with a normal mopping regime rather than anything specialist. The detail worth knowing is that anti-slip grades change this slightly. A higher slip grade has more texture in the surface to provide grip, and that texture needs a slightly more thorough clean than a smooth floor to stop residue building up in it over time. It is not onerous, but it is worth factoring into the specification decision. We will talk through the cleaning regime alongside the slip grade when we quote, because the two are directly connected.
