An Alternative to Traditional Carpet
Rolls generate offcuts around columns, alcoves and irregular walls, whereas tiles work around those obstructions with far less waste. For a building where the flooring has to be laid in stages or around occupied areas, the squares are simply easier to work with. Our team will advise on which format suits your project. We also supply and install vinyl flooring and luxury vinyl tiles for customers across Preston.

Why Choose Banks Flooring Solutions
Carpet tiles are a product where the consequences of poor advice appear years after the job is finished, not at handover. A range chosen without regard to future stock availability leaves you unable to match replacements. A method chosen for convenience rather than the traffic the room takes wears out early. Because we both supply and install, there is no gap between the person recommending the product and the person laying it, and no one passing responsibility along when a subfloor turns out to be worse than expected. We hold stock from four established manufacturers, which means we can point you towards ranges with a track record rather than whatever needs shifting.
Our showroom and trade counter are open for you to see product in person, and our team is available whether you need a full supply and install package or advice on a specification someone else has drawn up.
TRUSTED MANUFACTURERS

Every range we supply comes from a manufacturer with a proven record in commercial environments, with the technical data and warranties a specification requires.

Built for High Traffic Environments
Carpet tiles are manufactured for buildings where floors are walked on constantly, and the ranges we stock are graded accordingly. Offices, schools, airports and other public buildings are where tiles are specified most often, because the surface is designed to resist wear rather than simply look presentable on day one. Durability is only half the reason they suit these spaces. The other half is what happens when something goes wrong. A stained or worn square is lifted and replaced from stock, and the floor returns to a uniform appearance without an area being relaid or a visible patch being tolerated.
On a broadloom floor the same damage usually means living with it or accepting a much larger job. Over a long occupancy that difference compounds, which is why facilities managers tend to specify carpet tiles once they have managed a building through a few years of use.

WHERE IT WORKS
Carpet Tiles Built for Busy Buildings
Offices, schools, airports and care environments all put different demands on a floor. Select a setting to see how carpet tile performs there and which fitting method we would recommend.

Carpet tile for open plan office floors
Offices are where we fit carpet tile most often. Floors take constant foot traffic across the working day, and the building rarely closes long enough for a full relay. Tiles answer both, because worn or stained squares are lifted and replaced from stock rather than triggering a larger job.

carpet tiles questions
Frequently Asked Questions.
Carpet tiles raise a different set of questions to broadloom, particularly around installation, replacement and where they perform best. The questions we are asked most often are covered here. If your project raises something we have not addressed, get in touch and we will give you a straight answer.
Still have a question?

Call 01772 436686The saving comes from the installation itself rather than the material. Broadloom carpet arrives as a heavy roll that needs manoeuvring into position, and fitting it requires tack strips around the perimeter along with the equipment and labour to handle it. Carpet tiles arrive as lightweight squares fitted together with adhesive, which removes the tack strips entirely and reduces both the time and the specialist equipment needed on site. A faster installation with less labour costs less. On irregular floorplates the gap widens further, because tiles produce considerably less waste around columns and awkward corners than cutting into a roll does.
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons commercial buildings specify carpet tiles in the first place. If a square becomes damaged or stained it can be lifted and swapped without touching the surrounding floor, so the space keeps a clean and consistent appearance rather than carrying a visible repair. Doing the same on a broadloom floor generally means relaying an area or accepting the mark permanently. We would always recommend keeping a small quantity of spare tiles from the original order so replacements come from the same production run, since shade can vary slightly between manufacturing batches.
Offices, schools, airports and similar public buildings are where we fit carpet tiles most often. All of them share the same two pressures: floors that take constant foot traffic, and a building that cannot easily be closed while flooring is replaced. Tiles answer both, because they are manufactured to resist wear and because damaged sections can be dealt with individually rather than as a full relay. Care homes and classrooms come up frequently too, and those are the environments where we tend to recommend the stockdale fitting method rather than a traditional fit.
It depends entirely on the fitting method rather than the tiles themselves. Where we use the traditional method, the carpet is fitted over underlay with gripper rod around the perimeter, which is what gives that installation its comfort underfoot. The stockdale method works differently, and it is the approach we favour for care homes, school halls and classrooms because it copes far better with heavy and continuous foot traffic. Which one suits your building comes down to the traffic the space takes and what you need the floor to do. Our team will assess that before recommending an approach rather than applying the same method everywhere.
Carpet tiles rarely cover an entire building on their own. Circulation routes, kitchens and washrooms usually need something harder wearing and easier to clean down. Alongside tiles we supply and install vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl tiles and broadloom carpets, covering whatever colour, style or pattern a project calls for. Because we handle the full range of commercial flooring in house, you deal with one supplier and one fitting team across the whole building rather than coordinating between several.
Both are available. The showroom is worth a visit if you want to compare ranges side by side and see how tiles look under proper lighting, and the trade counter is there if you are collecting materials for a job already underway. If getting to Leyland is difficult, or if the decision needs making on site, one of our team can bring samples out to you instead. Seeing a tile in the actual space, under the lighting it will live with, tells you more than a showroom ever will.
